What Is Compassion Focused Therapy?

Compassion-focused therapy (CFT) aims to help individuals improve their mental health by developing the compassion they have for themselves and others.

CFT has been found to be helpful for those who find it difficult to experience, understand or express compassion. Therapy is used as a way to understand why this is and attempt to make change. 

How Does Compassion Focused Therapy Work?

  • Step 1: Book CFT

    Contact Connect Psychology to arrange an appointment. Our practice manager can book a consultation at a time that is convenient for you.

  • Step 2: Therapy Session

    The CFT appointment can take place Monday to Sunday from 7am to 10pm and will last 50 minutes. It will be a safe space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and emotions.

  • Step 3: Feedback & Discussion

    At the end of the consultation, a collaborative discussion between yourself and the psychologist will look at whether or not you could benefit from additional therapy sessions.

CFT can be helpful for those who have distressing feelings, thoughts or behaviours and may be highly self-critical.

Are There A Minimum Number of Sessions?

No, there are not a minimum number of sessions required to have CFT with Connect Psychology. Individuals can have as many appointments as they would like.

Do You Offer CFT At Home?

Connect Psychology offer remote sessions via telephone or online zoom appointments. This can be completed from any location, including your own home.

How Much Does Compassion Focused Therapy Cost?

Connect Psychology charges AED 700 for 50 minute CFT therapy sessions. Emirates Group Platinum Card holders are offered discounted rates.

Is CFT Covered By Insurance?

CFT sessions may be covered by insurance as we are a Pay & Claim clinic. You will need to get in touch with your insurance provider to confirm this. If your policy does cover therapy appointments, we can sign and stamp your claim form during your visit.
