Dr Siara Ledlie
Educational Psychologist
I am a practising Educational Psychologist who is HCPC registered. I was born in England and moved to the UAE in August 2023. I completed my doctorate at the University of Bristol.
My Story
I have always wanted to be an Educational Psychologist as I firmly believe that education is key to preparing children and young people for adulthood. I love working 1:1 with children and young people, teachers and parents. My role as an Educational Psychologist is to provide a range of services to schools and settings to promote the development and well-being of children and young people aged 0-25 through a range of activities, including:

-
Consultation to support a process of collaborative problem-solving and action planning based on the formulation of psychological hypotheses.
-
Individual assessment, advice and review when there are concerns about learning, attention, and social communication.
-
Interventions for individuals or groups of children and young people based on therapeutic approaches.
-
Coaching and supervision for individuals or groups of staff in schools and settings.
-
Strategic work to support areas of school improvement and schools in challenging circumstances.
-
Parenting groups and workshops include parent/carer drop-in sessions and focused workshops covering relevant topics such as building resilience and preparing for transitions.
-
Contributing to neurodevelopmental assessments, for example, Autism Spectrum Condition & Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
An area of interest within psychology is the assessment process and interventions available for young people with social-emotional and mental health needs (also the focus of my thesis!). I was also interested in Trauma-informed practice, attachment and ADHD.
What do you enjoy outside of psychology?
I enjoy reading various reading materials, and I try to include reading in my life regularly. I regularly attended my undergraduate university to deliver lectures and seminars on different psychological topics such as attachment and trauma. I love to cook, travel and looking after my kittens.
